Users may pick and choose what programs and files and folders to scan, and schedule automatic sweeps at a desired time, or simply choose the Sweep Now button to perform a manual sweep for spyware. Once spyware is detected, the quarantine feature allows users to safely manage spyware by removing or keeping it, without harming other programs on the computer. Traditional anti-virus programs and firewalls don't offer protection from invasive and harmful spyware programs. The consequences of unidentified spyware can include identity theft, computer corruption, and bombardment from pop-up ads. Spyware infections can occur when you visit a spy-spreading web site, open a spy-carrying email attachment, or download a spy as part of another software program. Your privacy, and even your identity, is at high risk if you surf the Internet, share your computer, or use file-sharing (peer-to-peer) programs.
